We EmPOWER You Africa has launched a new Supper Club in Uganda, bringing together community members, families, entrepreneurs, friends and supporters to share a meal, build relationships and empower communities.

The initiative, held on September 5 in Segguku, Wakiso District, is built around the philosophy, “Gather. Connect. Empower.”

The organisers say the Supper Club is more than just a shared meal. It is intended to create a space where people can connect, exchange ideas and learn how collective support can create opportunities for individuals and families.

Bettina Carey, the founder of the Supper Club concept and a supporter of We EmPOWER You Africa, said a table can be a powerful place for change.

Carey said when people gather, share a meal and learn each other’s stories, connections are made, ideas are exchanged and opportunities to support one another begin to grow.

The Uganda Supper Club is an extension of the community-centred supper club tradition Carey established in the United States. It combines hospitality and conversation with a philanthropic mission aimed at supporting community programmes.

Contributions to We EmPOWER You Africa support initiatives in education, healthcare and wellness, food and basic needs, microloans for small businesses, sustainable livelihoods and community development.

The organisation says its approach is focused on empowering individuals and families to build stronger and more sustainable futures.

The September 5 gathering is expected to be the beginning of an ongoing Supper Club tradition in Uganda, with future gatherings planned to celebrate local food and culture, build community connections and support initiatives aimed at strengthening communities.

Among those who played a key role in bringing the initiative to Uganda is Mr Joshua Kisubika.
