The Buganda Kingdom has urged all those participating in the 12th edition of the Kabaka’s Birthday Run at Mengo Palace to adhere to the provided guidelines and manage their time effectively. While distributing running kits to participants of various categories at Bulange Mengo, Kampala, the Katikiro of the Kingdom emphasised the importance of time management and following the correct route. Hon. David Calvin Echodu, the aspirant national chairman for the eastern region, who led the team responsible for purchasing the kits, thanked the Kingdom for the warm welcome extended to everyone and encouraged people nationwide to participate.
Meanwhile, various organisations are still confirming their participation in tomorrow’s birthday run. The Public Relations Officer of Nabugabo Up Deal Joint Venture, Abubaker Ssonko, has stated that they have purchased kits for their workers and are ready to participate. “Our organisation is one of the few that cares about the well-being of its clients and the wider community. Therefore, we would like to inform the general public that we will be joining the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom, His Royal Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, in the fight against HIV and AIDS. We have purchased our running kits and distributed them to our workers so they can join the rest. We appeal to our clients and everyone to participate in this important cause and continue supporting Nabugabo, as our dues are affordable,” Ssonko said.
Additionally, the Treasurer of the Buganda Parliamentary Caucus, Hon. David Kalwanga, has joined the campaign by purchasing kits worth five million shillings, which will be distributed to several people in order to participate in the run. “As the Treasurer of the Buganda Parliamentary Caucus, I represented the executive in purchasing Kabaka Birthday Run 2025 kits worth Ushs 5 million to distribute to the Kabaka’s subjects, enabling them to participate in the 12th edition of the Kabaka Birthday Run, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 6th April 2025,” he confirmed. The Uganda Christian University Directorate also thanked the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda for gifting them 70 kits to participate in the run. It should be noted that over 10,000 people are expected to participate in the run at the main venue. There will be various distances available for participants, with the event set to kick off at 6 am.
