OYAM DISTRICT – Police in Oyam District have launched a major investigation into a violent incident of aggravated robbery and attempted murder, after a 35-year-old Pakistani national was stabbed and robbed of an unspecified amount of cash in Kamdini Town Council.

The victim, identified as Ali Nazim, is the manager of Med Minder Pharmacy’s Kamdini branch.

The brutal attack occurred on Monday night, June 22, 2026, at around 9:00 PM.According to North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, an unidentified assailant approached the pharmacy pretending to buy medicine.

At the time, Nazim was locking up the premises to return home.Upon gaining entry, the assailant reportedly pushed Nazim back inside, brandished an object resembling a pistol, and ordered him to remain silent.

The attacker then dragged the manager into the store room and demanded the cash accumulated from the pharmacy’s sales over the previous three days.Out of fear for his life, Nazim surrendered the money. Despite his cooperation, the assailant stabbed him in the stomach, leaving him bleeding profusely, before fleeing the scene.

Inside Job Suspected

Preliminary police findings strongly point toward a potential inside job. Investigators believe that at least one of the three employees working at the pharmacy may have connived with the attacker.

“The assailant demanded specific money which he knew was kept inside the store, including sales made for the last three days that the manager had not yet taken to the bank,” SP Okema noted in a statement.

Furthermore, from his hospital bed, the victim indicated to his supervisor that the assailant appeared to be a familiar figure within Kamdini Town Council. Police are now planning to arrest all three pharmacy workers for interrogation to establish their involvement.

Emergency Response and Hunt for Suspect

Following the attack, a Good Samaritan, in coordination with Nazim’s supervisor based in Gulu, Hussein Iftikhar, rushed the heavily bleeding manager to a local facility for first aid before evacuating him to Gulu City. Nazim is currently admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor, where he is receiving medical care.

Local police at Kamdini were notified of the incident through a security chain of command involving regional criminal investigation officers from Aswa West and North Kyoga.

By the time the scene-of-crime officers arrived to cordon off the area, the victim had already been evacuated. To track down the perpetrator, police plan to review CCTV footage from the pharmacy and deploy a canine (K9) unit to help sniff out the suspect’s trail.

Call for Better Community Vigilance

In light of the delayed reporting of the incident to local police, authorities have urged the public to maintain closer ties with security organs.SP Okema expressed concern that many community members still lack the direct phone numbers of their local police commanders, which significantly hinders rapid response times during emergencies.

Locals are heavily encouraged to secure the official contacts of their area Officer in Charge (OC) for better coordination whenever crime strikes.
