President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has unveiled a new cabinet list that places several leaders from the Lango sub-region in influential government positions, strengthening the region’s representation in the country’s top leadership structures.

Among the notable appointments is Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, who has been appointed Minister of Information, Communications Technology and National Guidance. Dr. Aceng, who previously served in the health docket, remains one of the most prominent political figures from Lango in the cabinet.

Former minister Sam Engola also retained a senior role after being named Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister in charge of Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees.

The region further gained representation through Lillian Aber, who was appointed Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister responsible for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees.

In another significant development, Joyce Acan Okeny was appointed Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development in charge of Disability Affairs.

The President also elevated Hamson Obua to the position of Senior Presidential Advisor, alongside several other senior government figures.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Omona was transferred to the diplomatic service and will serve as Uganda’s ambassador at a station yet to be communicated.

Political observers say the appointments signal President Museveni’s continued trust in leaders from Northern Uganda, particularly the Lango sub-region, which now holds strategic positions in information management, disaster preparedness, gender affairs, and presidential advisory roles.

The cabinet reshuffle was announced on Tuesday through a release from the Presidency, issued under the constitutional powers granted to the Head of State.
