LIRA CITY — Pakistani Association in Lira City have organised a citywide blood donation drive to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The excercise set for August 30th, 2026, is being considered as a way of giving back to the local communities in Lango Sub-Region.
Spearheaded by Muhammad Ateeq Nawaz, the President of the Lira Pakistan Association, the humanitarian event invites community members, business partners, regional institutions, and well-wishers to contribute to replenishing local blood banks under the theme, “A Small Act of Kindness Can Save a Life.”
The drive will take place at GB Restaurant in Lira City, adjacent to the YY Coaches Office, running from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Speaking on the initiative, Ateeq Nawaz emphasized that leveraging the Independence day observance for a public health drive reflects the Pakistani diaspora’s commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations and supporting community welfare in Northern Uganda.
To encourage widespread community participation, the association will present every blood donor with a branded shirt and an official Certificate of Appreciation.
