AMOLATAR | Police in Amolatar District are holding an 18-year-old youth in connection with the alleged murder of a 22-year-old man during a dispute in Muntu Sub-County.

The suspect, identified as Moses Okello, 18, was arrested following the death of Jacob Okwang, 22, both residents of Alelangao “B” Village, Odyaka Parish, Muntu Sub-County.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Monday, October 26, 2026, at approximately 9:00 AM. A quarrel broke out between Okello and Okwang inside a house, which quickly escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, Okello allegedly struck Okwang on the head with a wooden hand hoe handle, knocking him unconscious.

Okwang was rushed to Alelangao Health Centre for emergency medical attention, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The matter was reported to Muntu Police Station by Tom Okello, 60, a peasant farmer and resident of the same village.

Regional Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the arrest and stated that detectives have visited and documented the scene.

“Relevant statements have been recorded from eyewitnesses and the reporter. The hand hoe handle allegedly used in the assault has been recovered and exhibited as evidence,” SP Okema said.

The victim’s body was transferred to Amolatar Health Center IV for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.

SP Okema condemned the violent act and urged community members to adopt peaceful conflict-resolution methods to avoid unnecessary loss of life. He added that once investigations are complete, the case file will be submitted to the Resident State Attorney for legal guidance before the suspect is produced in court.
