SOROTI CITY UGANDA – Kenya’s Obucuun and Soroti City Women (UG)have been crowned champions of the 2nd Edition of the Ateker Cup of Nations after thrilling finals played at Oligoi Stadium.
The finals were graced by the Governor of Eastern Equatoria, General Louis Lobong Lojore, who was the Guest of Honour.

Soroti City Women emerged champions of the women’s category after a commanding performance.

Soroti City dominated the encounter from start to finish to secure a 2-0 victory and lift the trophy.

In the highly anticipated men’s final, Kenya’s Obucuun battled Kumi District in a tense encounter.
The game was cagey in the first half.
HALF TIME: Kumi District 0-0 Obucuun

After a goalless first half, both teams returned stronger, each finding the back of the net.
FULL TIME: Kumi District 1-1 Obucuun
With the score tied at 1-1 after normal time, the winner had to be decided from the penalty spot.
In the shootouts, Obucuun showed composure and won 4-3 on penalties to be crowned champions.
Obucuun team from Kenya walked away with a trophy and a cash prize of Five Million UGx(5,000,000).
1ST EDITION FLASHBACK
This year’s tournament is the 2nd Edition. The inaugural edition held in 2025 in Lodwar, Turkana County, Kenya was won by Uganda’s Ngora FC, who beat Kenya’s Kakuma FC 5-4 on penalties in the final. That edition featured 26 teams from Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan with the aim of uniting the Ateker communities through sports.
With this victory, Kenya’s Obucuun and Soroti City Women (UG)have now etched their names in the history of the Ateker Cup of Nations.
