ADUKU | Digital learning at Ikwera Primary School in Kwania District has suffered a major setback following an illegal break-in that left the school’s computer lab stripped of its technology assets.
Thieves targeted the lab over the weekend, cutting through rear burglar proofing to steal eight touch-screen laptops—four Acer and four HP units—critical for the learners’ ICT instruction.
The theft came to light on Saturday morning when teacher Leah Abito arrived at the lab, only to find the room broken into and the equipment missing. School authorities, led by Headteacher Joseph Ogwal, immediately notified law enforcement.
Kwania Central Police deployed a specialized team including Scene of Crime Officers and a canine unit to track down the perpetrators. Following initial scene processing, two suspects—including school watchman Nelson Onoke and another individual identified as Francis Apel—were taken into custody to aid investigations.
Regional Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema stated that while fingerprint processing and witness documentation are underway, none of the stolen equipment has been recovered yet.
Local residents and community members with information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen laptops are urged to contact Kwania Central Police Station confidentially.
