Retired Bishop of Lango Diocese has urged Ugandan leaders to emulate the life of former President Apolo Milton Obote.

John Charles Odur Kami made these remarks on October 7, 2026, in Awila, Akokoro, Apac District, during a memorial service organized by delegators from various African nations to commemorate former President Apolo Milton Obote.

According to Bishop Kami, Obote accomplished many great and important things, and current Ugandan leaders should emulate such a life so that Uganda can progress to higher levels.

Odur called for unity among various African leaders and stressed the need to foster development for future generations, while praying for unity across all African nations.

Leaders from various African countries—including Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and others—gathered in Akokoro on October 8, 2026, to honor the late former president and former Prime Minister, Apolo Milton Obote.
