Lango Cultural institution (LCI)Partners with Ernest Cook University to Offer Scholarships to Students

The Lango Cultural Institution has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ernest Cook University aimed at expanding access to higher education for students from the Lango sub-region.

The agreement, signed at Lango cultural center, will see Ernest Cook University provide 12, 2 full scholarships and 10 half bursary every year to students from Lango pursuing programmes in health sciences.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Ernest Cook University spokesperson Faray Joseph said the university is committed to investing in the education of young people from the region.

He explained that the scholarships will cover the cost of tuition and partially, giving beneficiaries an opportunity to pursue university education without financial barriers.

Faray said the partnership also strengthens the relationship between the university and the Lango Cultural Institution while contributing to improved education outcomes and poverty reduction in the region.

Under the agreement, the scholarship programme will run for five years, with 12 students benefiting annually.

He added that the university is open to increasing the number of beneficiaries in the future, depending on the success of the partnership.

The Lango Cultural Institution’s Minister for Education and Sports, George Ojwang Opota, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a major investment in the future of the Lango community.

He praised Ernest Cook University as a quality institution and encouraged eligible students from Lango to take advantage of the opportunity to pursue higher education and transform their lives.

Ojwang also revealed that the Lango Cultural Institution’s scholarship programme has so far supported more than 2,000 students, many of whom have successfully completed university education.
