Alebtong: The Lango community has been urged to reject laziness and embrace hard work as key steps towards making poverty eradication in the sub-region easier and more effective.

The call was made by Ambrose Ongom Ongom, the Alebtong District Local Government Chairperson, during an exclusive interview with Q FM.

Referring to recent statistical data, Ongom expressed concern that the Lango Sub-region continues to rank among areas with high levels of poverty in the country.

“To make poverty eradication easier, the people of Lango must engage in hard work, focusing heavily on commercial farming, trade and business, and other gainful income-generating activities,” Ongom said.

Youth urged to take the lead

Ongom placed particular emphasis on young people, encouraging them to use their energy and potential to pursue productive ventures and economic opportunities.

He noted that actively engaging in profitable economic activities is necessary to ensure that Government initiatives and development programmes aimed at fighting poverty deliver tangible benefits to households across the region.
