Wisdom High School to host historic FUFA girls’ football trials in Kole

Wisdom High School, located in Akalo Sub-county along the Lira–Aduku Road in Kole District, has finalised preparations to host the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Girls’ Football Trials and Talent Identification Clinic scheduled for 18–19 August 2026.

Established in February 2018 as a mixed Christian boarding school offering both Ordinary and Advanced Level education, Wisdom High School, which operates under the motto “Wisdom for Excellence”, has grown into a leading institution for academic and co-curricular development in Northern Uganda.

The school’s selection as one of only four centres nationwide, and the sole centre in the region, to host the prestigious FUFA Girls’ School of Excellence programme highlights its growing role in sports development.

Participating athletes are expected to report on Monday, 17 August 2026, ahead of the two-day assessment. The trials will primarily target talented female footballers aged 12 to 16 years under the sponsorship of FUFA.

Candidates who successfully pass the FUFA selection process will receive full scholarship packages covering tuition, basic scholastic materials, training kits and pocket money.

In addition, Wisdom High School’s technical staff will separately assess players aged 17 to 19 years for internal sports scholarships and academic placements.

Speaking ahead of the trials, Wisdom High School Director Ambrose Ogwal called on parents, guardians and sports stakeholders across the Lango, Acholi and West Nile sub-regions to encourage talented young athletes to take advantage of the opportunity.

Ogwal emphasised that early talent development, beginning with children as young as 8 to 12 years in future expanded programmes, is vital to building sustainable sporting careers.

He said the initiative provides an important pathway for young women seeking to progress to the National Football Academy, national youth teams and international football platforms.

The school administration has assured the public that all necessary infrastructure, security and emergency medical arrangements, including standby medical units, are fully in place to manage the physically demanding assessment process.

Local sports organisers have urged parents to ensure that participating girls undertake adequate physical preparation before reporting for the trials, positioning Kole District as an emerging centre for the development of women’s football in Uganda.
