17 clubs confirmed for Northern Novice Boxing Championship in Gulu

Gulu City: The Northern Regional Novice Boxing Championships 2026 are set to take place in Gulu City, with 17 clubs confirming their participation.

The confirmed clubs are Nwoya BC, Alepton BC, Pece BC, Lira City BC, Gulu BC, Arua City BC, Opeta BC, Taks BC, Nuba BC, Katrini BC, Pece Korgar BC-Omoro, Arua BC, Unique BC-Kitgum, Laliya Power House BC, Lira Destiny BC, Lacor Paradise BC and Padi BC.

Speaking to our sports desk, Northern Region Boxing Chairman Denis Mulidra said the delay in confirming the date was due to the organisers waiting to meet members of the Central Executive Committee of the Uganda Boxing Federation, who visited and met them on Wednesday before confirming the date.

According to the new programme, the championship will begin with official weigh-ins on Friday, September 5, 2026, at 7.30am at Gulu Community Park, while the main boxing action will take place on Sunday, September 7, 2026.

The championship is expected to attract hundreds of fans as young boxers compete for regional glory.
