OTUKE — The Office of the Resident District Commissioner in Otuke District has commended improvements in education infrastructure after inspecting four government primary schools within the month of july 2026.
The inspection was led by Assistant RDC Isaac Opio Opeo and Deputy RDC Francis Okwameri.
The team visited Amoni P/S in Ogwette Sub-county, Amele P/S, Alangi P/S in Orum Sub-county, and Odero-Kech P/S in Ogor Sub-county.

According to Opio Opeo, the monitoring exercise was meant to assess projects implemented by Link-to-Progress in partnership with government.

Opio Opeo said each latrine project cost approximately UGX 26 million, bringing the total investment in sanitation facilities to about UGX 127 million.

He noted that the improved infrastructure, especially modern sanitation facilities, has encouraged more parents to enroll their children and has boosted learner attendance.
“We commend teachers for maintaining effective teaching despite challenges. Parents, teachers and learners must work together to improve academic performance in Otuke,” Opio Opeo said.
Deputy RDC Francis Okwameri expressed concern over the prolonged dry spell affecting the district. He said poor harvests have caused food shortages, impacting pupils’ attendance and concentration since many depend on meals provided at school.
He appealed to parents to ensure children continue attending school despite the hardship, stressing that “every child deserves access to quality education.
The RDCs also warned parents against allowing school-going children to spend learning hours in markets.
They revealed that 20 pupils were arrested this week at a market during school hours, warning that such acts undermine education.

Otuke LCV Chairperson Francis Abola urged parents to fully support their children’s education.
“Education is the key to the future of every child and the development of our district. Parents must play their part by ensuring children remain in school,” Abola said.
District leaders concluded by applauding Link-to-Progress for supporting education infrastructure, saying the investments are significantly improving learning conditions and standards across Otuke.
