Suspected Karamojong warriors kill Agago man during midnight goat theft

A 39-year-old man, identified as Oryang David, was fatally shot by suspected Karamojong warriors in the early hours of Monday, February 10, 2025.

The incident occurred at around 2:00 AM in Wipolo Central Cell, Wipolo Ward, Laimutto Town Council.

The shooting was reported by Otim Colgate Adamoi, a 54-year-old resident of the same area.

According to preliminary reports, the assailants targeted Oryang David’s home with the intent to steal goats that were tied under the veranda.

It is alleged that Oryang David heard voices outside his home and, upon opening the door to investigate, was shot in the head at close range. He died instantly at the scene.

Aswa East Acting PRO, IP Joe Oloya, confirmed that the suspects managed to steal one goat and an Itel mobile phone with the number 0786361262.

He added that a case of murder by shooting has been registered at Laimutto Police Station, and statements have been recorded from relevant witnesses.

IP Oloya further stated that four cartridges were recovered from the scene, and investigations are ongoing. The deceased’s body remains at the scene pending a postmortem examination.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as efforts to apprehend the perpetrators continue.
