Shine Fm Oyam Praised For Peace and Growth during International Celebration of World Radio Day

Shine fm oyam yesterday joined rest of the radio family in the world to mark World Radio Day 2025 on Thursday, listeners commended the broadcaster for its positive contribution to society in terms of peacebuilding, spiritual growth, and infotainment.

Susan Akello of Loro Acanpii and Denish odongov from Abakirao in ngai sub-county shared how the radio station has directly impacted their lives, activities, and personal growth.

They noted that Shine Fm has played a crucial role in bridging communities and fostering peace in oyam district as well as Lango Subregion through its programs like mia niang ,sports,Tekwaro , gadi Alango , news, and information.

Walter Mike ojokb aprominent business man of teatat market in Lira City, highlighted the radio’s contribution to promoting sanitation, hygiene, education, and peace in Lango .

He emphasised that the peace enjoyed today was, in part, facilitated by the station’s Shine FM 106.5, which began broadcasting in 2011, is a community-oriented radio station serving the Lang sub region and beyond.

The station plays a vital role in informing and empowering the community, enabling them to hold duty bearers accountable. As the shine like evening star , it continues to be a pillar of development and engagement.

Meanwhile, the history of World Radio Day dates back to 2010 when Spain proposed dedicating a day to celebrating radio’s importance as a powerful communication medium.

In 2011, UNESCO officially declared February 13th as World Radio Day, marking the anniversary of the founding of UN Radio in 1946.
