Patrick Ogwang Obura, a prominent figure in Oyam South, launched a groundbreaking poverty alleviation programme tailored for widows, recognising their often-overlooked needs. Today, 103 households from the Apit Pe Nino widow group in Amati “A” Juma parish, Kamdini sub county, received poultry donations, marking a significant milestone in Obura’s initiatives.
Following the donation, some group members excitedly expressed their gratitude to Ogwang Obura for this development and pledged to make good use of the chickens to achieve their primary goals and alleviate poverty.
Amongi Colline, Chairperson of the Apit Pe Nino Women’s Group, expressed her gratitude for the donation, although the group received three chickens each. She pledged that the chickens would be used productively.
In his message delivered through Deacon Richard Ebong, Patrick Ogwang Obura stated that the project is for the Oyam South constituency, aiming at poverty alleviation and positive development.
He also mentioned that catechists from Loro Catholic Parish would be empowered next week with the same initiative.
Obura’s donation follows his previous contribution of over 1,500 chickens to catechists at Minakulu Catholic Parish and block leaders of Kamdini town council and sub county, reflecting his commitment to empowering local communities.
Beyond poultry donations, Obura leads projects to enhance overall welfare in Oyam South, from repairing over 100 boreholes for clean water access to constructing churches and sponsoring school fees for underprivileged children.
His commitment to holistic development is progressing.
