South’s Geoffrey Owili, in collaboration with women MP aspirant Akello Brenda Komagum, has led the rehabilitation of Adak A Road in Kamdini Sub county, a route that had gone 10–20 years without maintenance.

The initiative attracted residents from several villages who rely on Adak A Road, a crucial link to Atapara Hospital.

While addressing locals in Adak A Cell, Geoffrey Owili—standing on the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) ticket—shared his motivation for backing the project. He emphasised that leaders should not always wait for government intervention when they are capable of taking action themselves. “A road is one of the most important things in life,” he stated. “That’s why I felt it necessary to work with the community to rehabilitate it, rather than waiting for government support.”

Similarly, Akello Brenda Komagum, who is contesting for the Oyam District Women MP seat under the UPC, stressed that leadership should be demonstrated through actions rather than words. “I’ve come to fight poverty and ignorance, and to help transform our community into a centre of development,” she said.

Patrick Omara, the LC1 Chairperson of Adak A Village, expressed gratitude while outlining past challenges. “We’ve had elected leaders who made nothing but empty promises,” he remarked. “This road has caused accidents, school dropouts, embarrassment among women, low commodity prices, and limited access to healthcare, since it connects us to Atapara Hospital.”
