Kampala Boys is an association of reformed gangs based at Oyam town council, aiming to improve their livelihoods through participation in various economic activities.
Dr Eunice Apio Otuku, the Member of Parliament for Oyam North, recently launched an empowerment project targeting vulnerable youths, women, the elderly, and clergy of all denominations across the constituency. At an event held at Teduka cell in Oyam town council, Dr Apio offered 300 broilers to Kampala Boys.
Hon Dr Eunice Apio Otuku, through her political representative Harriet Among Odongo, who is also the female LC3 councillor for Western Ward Central, stated that this donation is not political. Dr Apio aims to eradicate poverty among youths and other groups.
Tonny Olang, a supplier of these chickens, encouraged the beneficiaries not to fear the poultry business, as it is a good start for development. Olang further challenged the youths to feed their broilers at the appropriate times so they can profit from them.
Moses Uhuru and Isaac Ojok, members of Kampala Boys who spoke on behalf of their colleagues, excitedly appreciated this development and pledged to make good use of the chickens to achieve their primary goals.
They further urged other politicians to follow Dr Apio Otuku’s example so that voters can also benefit from their votes.
