War On Corruption And Poverty Declared By Deputy RDC In Oyam

Speaking during a community Baraza in Iceme Sub County aimed at strengthening service delivery in Oyam District, Deputy RDC Francis Biahngana delivered a powerful message: “There are no more sleeping and no more corruption.”

He echoed the words of CDF General Muhoozi, who has vowed “Kumaliza ufisadi” – to end corruption once and for all.

The Deputy RDC stressed that the gathering was not for show business or comfort, but for service delivery. He urged residents to openly report cases where services are failing, and assured those afraid to speak in public that they could confidentially approach the RDC’s office to expose corruption. He emphasized that silence shields wrongdoers, while exposing them protects the community.

Biahngana further reminded citizens that government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, Restocking and other initiatives are free of charge. He warned that any official demanding payment is engaging in corruption and must be reported immediately.

On education, parents were cautioned against illegal school fees, with assurances that head teachers found guilty would face disciplinary action.

The Deputy RDC highlighted that corruption cannot be hidden behind language barriers or community ties, warning that the law will eventually catch up with offenders. He tasked Parish Chiefs in iceme Sub county to record statements and cooperate with police investigations to ensure accountability.

Beyond fighting corruption, residents were urged to fight poverty by fully engaging in government programs designed to uplift households. Biahngana emphasized that these initiatives belong to the people, not to officials, and must be guarded jealously to secure development.

As the Baraza concluded, he thanked women, technical teams, and community members for their sacrifice and participation, calling for continued vigilance and unity. He warned against reliance on rumors, insisting that citizens must speak openly and directly to ensure service delivery.

This Baraza marked a renewed commitment in Iceme to expose corruption, strengthen accountability, and build a future free from poverty and exploitation.
