Minister Santa Alum Ogwang Cracks Whip On Corruption In PDM And Restocking Programs

The Honourable Minister of State for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President and Woman Member of Parliament for Oyam District, Santa Sandra Alum Ogwang, has issued a stern warning to individuals misusing funds meant for government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and restocking initiatives.

Speaking during the burial of Imat Kerobina Alii, the beloved mother of Hon. Francis Odongo Alii, Disability Representative for Oyam District, held today in Ajuri Village, Eastern Ward, Oyam Town Council, the Minister called upon those who have diverted money to return it to the rightful beneficiaries before action is taken against them.

She emphasized that the era of politics is over and urged citizens to embrace government programs designed to improve livelihoods without corruption. Alum Ogwang cautioned the people of Lango against engaging in fraudulent practices, stressing that her ministry is committed to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability. She praised President Museveni for appointing her as Minister, describing it as a sign of his love for Oyam District. In her closing remarks, she urged parents and guardians to prioritize education by ensuring children return to school on Monday instead of being sent to the gardens.

Meanwhile, Bosco Onyik Ogwal, the NRM Chairperson for Oyam District, appealed to residents to give elected leaders from LC I up to Parliament time to serve, and encouraged those whose candidates did not win to support the elected representatives. He emphasized that government programs are delivered without segregation and warned that anyone arrested for corruption should not seek his intervention, as such programs are meant to benefit all citizens equally.

District Chairman Nelson Adea Akar also addressed mourners, expressing gratitude to President Museveni for increasing road maintenance funds from one billion to two billion shillings among six districts in Uganda. He pledged to work closely with the President for the development of Oyam, even stating that he would kneel before him if necessary for the district’s progress. Adea Akar revealed that the road linking Ajuri Village to Iceme, crossing Akot swamp via Upper Centre Agoa Village in Oyam Town Council, has already been included in the budget. He called upon Bosco Onyik Ogwal to join hands with him in advancing Oyam District regardless of political affiliation.

This burial ceremony thus became a platform for leaders to reaffirm their commitment to fighting corruption, supporting government programs, and prioritizing development and education in Oyam District.
