Hon. Christ Ongom, the Acaba LC5 councillor and candidate for the Oyam district LC5 seat, made these remarks while launching the distribution of reflector jackets to all boda boda riders in Dog Apio parish, Acaba sub county. The event took place in Wicoo village on 24th January 2025.
According to Ongom, the reflector jackets are a token of appreciation for the boda boda riders’ hard work. He emphasised that these jackets will benefit all boda boda cyclists in Dog Apio parish, aiming to improve road safety and reduce accidents. He also called upon all members of the Boda Boda Association in Oyam to acquire riding licences.
Ongom urged all boda boda riders to organise themselves into groups based on their respective stages within Oyam. He noted that this would help the police in combating crime.
Some boda boda riders who spoke to our reporter expressed their gratitude to Hon. Christ Ongom for his support. They pledged their backing, particularly during the political season, to ensure his success in securing the LC5 Chairperson seat.
Additionally, Ongom pledged to advocate for further support towards boda boda SACCOs and VSLA groups as part of efforts to boost their economic empowerment.
Denish Olila, commonly known as Wot Agwok, a resident of Wicoo village in Dog Apio parish, also expressed his appreciation for Ongom’s support. He called upon not only boda boda riders but the entire community to rally behind Ongom as he seeks to become the LC5 Chairperson of Oyam district in the 2026–2031 general elections.
