Addressing press in Oyam Town Council this week,Samuel Junior Engola Okello the former Oyam North Parliament candidate demanded for the immediate distribution of tractors to the beneficiaries.
Engola said the provision of walking tractors was a part of presidential initiative to boost and enhance agricultural productivity in Uganda, and decision to distribute these tractors was endorsed by NRM Caucus in March 2023 and November of the same year wher he continued by saying that the current storage condition of this walking tractors are not proper which expose these tractors to harsh weather conditions at Oyam district engineering department without giving it any protection.
Conclucively Engola appeal for the immediate distribution of these tractors to the beneficiaries to protect them from current storage conditions at the district.
Evaline Tino the chairperson of Pe- Ipwony Caniwot group in Otwal Sub-county testify that her group was among groups that was supposed to receive these tractors but their name has misteriusly disappeared from the distribution list though it was there during Okello Engola’s regime.
During a telephone interview with Oyam North member of parliament Dr Eunice Apio Otuku she said the distribution criteria and all the documents concerning these tractors are now at the office of the Chief Administrative Officer of Oyam district waiting for distribution day and date however several attempts made to get a comment from Kitutu Federick who is the Chief Administrative Officer of Oyam District were futile during press time as his phone calls went unpicked.
Despite the fact that most of the districts in the country have already distributed their tractors to the beneficiaries but the delay in distributing these tractors in Oyam still remained unclear where many people are suspecting that the distribution process is politicized.
