Oyam Receives 19,500 tonnes of relief food from OPM

In October 2023, hailstorms destroyed crops such as cassava, maize, and beans and peas causing food shortage in the sub-counties of Abok and Aleka, Oyam District.

The consignment of the relief food and non-food relief were delivered on Tuesday to the district, following a request by the authorities after devastating effects of the hailstorms.

Oyam District LCV Chairman Benson Walter Dila Oyuku acknowledged receiving 13,000 Kgs of beans and 6,500 Kgs of maize as well as 200 tarpaulins.

Dila warned the beneficiaries of the relief items against misusing them.

Philips Ogile Jakayo the LC3 chairman of Abok Sub County said locals of his area are prepared to receive the items.
