The borehole, which serves over 250 people, was repaired thanks to the efforts of Dr Eunice Apio Otuku, the Oyam North Member of Parliament.

Speaking on behalf of Dr Apio, the Uganda People’s Congress chairperson for Acaba sub county, Solo Owani, stated that she decided to use her own funds to repair the borehole after hearing the community’s pleas for help, as they had been drinking contaminated water, leading to various diseases.

Owani urged the community to form a water source committee to collect funds and ensure the borehole’s maintenance.

James Otim Akon, one of Dr Apio’s representatives in Acaba sub county, urged the community to protect the borehole, emphasising the rarity of politicians who prioritise their community’s needs.

In their statement, the women of Agwedola, due to water scarcity in their area, said they had been forced to drink contaminated water, leading to various diseases such as diarrhoea, candida, and typhoid.

They praised Dr Apio for her kindness and pledged their support for her in the 2026 general elections.
