UPC leaders in Oyam District have warmly welcomed the appointment of Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang, the Woman Member of Parliament for Oyam District, as Minister of State for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President.
They congratulated President Museveni for entrusting Alum with this responsibility, noting that her new role will strengthen oversight of government programs and enhance the fight against corruption.
Chris Ongom, former regional vice chairperson of the UPC party and political assistant to Hon. Alum, who also serves as LC5 councillor for Acaba Sub County, said the appointment is positive because Alum will serve the Ugandan government rather than any political party.He emphasized that her leadership will help ensure accountability in government initiatives.
David Ohuro Kagwa, UPC chairman for Iceme Sub County, described the appointment as a blessing, likening it to “the coming of Jesus from heaven to earth.” He urged the people of Oyam to embrace the appointment with hope and trust for development in Lango.
Patrick Engola, commonly known as Engola Alonyo, LC5 councillor for Otwal Sub County, said the appointment will help address challenges facing Oyam and other parts of Lango, including roads and infrastructure development.
Cipiriano Otine, LC5 councillor representing Aleka, appreciated President Museveni for giving Alum a significant office and called on all UPC leaders to recognize the trust placed in her.
Isaac Ojok Oruko Bade, former UPC chairperson for Oyam North Constituency, together with Tom Ojok, LC5 councillor for Iceme Sub County, also welcomed the appointment, saying this is the right time for Lango to achieve meaningful development.
