LC2 Poll Violence: Four Rushed to Hospital in Apire parish Kwania District

Four people have been hospitalized at Aduku Health Centre IV following violent clashes during the LC2 elections

Four people have been admitted to Aduku Health Centre IV following violent clashes during the LC2 elections in Apire Parish, Aduku Sub‑county, Kwania District, on Monday evening.Persons Injured and Admitted are Anna Ekaa and Ambrose Okello – from Bung‑Apire ,Fred Olam – from Teopok and Tom Ebong – from Alongo Omula village all in Apire Parish

The clashes reportedly erupted between supporters of the UPC and NRM parties, alongside police officers from Kwania Central Police Station.

The violence broke out shortly after Kwania deputy Resident District Commissioner Abraham Aturu announced the cancellation of the LC2 Election.

Anyero Jasper, the LC1 Chairperson of Inyer in Apire Parish, said tensions escalated when the RDC declared the cancellation of the NRM primary election.

Meanwhile, voter Jenty Abura accused RDC Abraham Aturu and District Police Commander (DPC) Paul Kadogo of causing chaos by attempting to interfere with the voting process.

At the time of filing this report, RDC Aturu was receiving treatment at a hospital in Lira City and DPC Kadogo was admitted to a health facility in Aduku Town Council

Kwania District Electoral Officer Sharh Kezia Birungi confirmed that LC2 elections were successfully conducted in 49 parishes across the district, but the exercise in Apire Parish was cancelled due to violence and disorder.

Moses Odwono, the UPC Party Registrar in Kwania, condemned the clashes and urged political actors and their supporters to respect the law.
He called upon aspirants in Apire Parish to resolve their differences peacefully in order to maintain community stability.

A case of assault and causing grievous harm against the suspects has been registered at Kwania Central Police Station under SD Ref. 40/10/08/2026.
