Oyam South Constituency is set to benefit from a brand-new Type B ambulance, secured through the lobbying efforts of Mr Patrick Ogwang Obura.

In a letter dated 12 March 2026 addressed to Hon. Dr Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, Minister of Health, Mr Ogwang Obura congratulated her on her resounding election victory as Woman Member of Parliament for Lira City (2026–2031). He expressed appreciation for her strong performance in the health sector, noting that Oyam District has been a major beneficiary of her leadership at the Ministry of Health.

Speaking to our reporter by telephone this evening, Mr Patrick Ogwang Obura confirmed that the ambulance was successfully lobbied following the identification of an urgent need in Oyam South, which had been operating without one. He emphasised that the arrival of the vehicle will significantly improve health services, particularly in the safe transfer of patients to referral hospitals.

Mr Ogwang urged the people of Oyam South to prepare for the official handover of the ambulance, scheduled to take place tomorrow in Oyam District, before it is deployed to a government facility within Oyam South.

Carolina Ayiko, an expectant mother from Aceno Bung in Minakulu Town Council, told our reporter that after hearing the news, she began praying to God to bless her with a baby boy, whom she intends to name Ogwang Peko Alango in honour of Mr Ogwang’s contribution. She described him as a true leader sent by God to Oyam South after years of hardship under the current regime.

Milton Ojok Obia from Acwara Tera village in Myene Sub-county also praised Mr Ogwang Obura, noting that his efforts began even before he was elected to Parliament. He said that if all leaders acted in a similar manner, local communities would begin to witness genuine development.

The ambulance will be stationed in Oyam South to serve the constituency, marking a significant step forward in healthcare delivery for the region.
