Over 4,000 residents of Minakulu Subcounty, Oyam South, are celebrating the repair of a vital borehole by parliamentary aspirant Patrick Ogwang Obura. The borehole, located at Ajaga Primary School, had been non-functional since 2006, exacerbating water scarcity for the school’s 2,000 students and the surrounding community.
Headteacher Okuti Patrick expressed his gratitude, noting that the borehole’s repair alleviates the severe water crisis that had forced students to compete with locals for water, leading some to drop out. The scarcity had driven many to consume unsafe water, resulting in widespread intestinal worm infections among the students.

Geoffrey Thadeo Okello, representing Ogwang Obura at the event, urged the community to form a water source committee for proper maintenance. Ogwang Obura has repaired 38 boreholes across Oyam South, aiming to improve access to clean water and address the community’s pressing needs.
