According to local residents, this unknown animal, which is suspected to be responsible, has so far killed four cows and eight goats in Adyegi Parish, leaving the entire community in panic and calling for the intervention of the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Francis Angor, the LC3 chairperson of Aber Subcounty, confirmed the situation, saying that their attempts to drive away the stray animal have been unsuccessful. When game ranger officials come, the animal typically hides itself.
He further called on members of the community to be vigilant during this time, as the dangerous animal is still in Aber. He also discouraged unnecessary movement at night.
Several attempts to get a comment from Wilson Kagoro, an officer of the Uganda Wildlife Authority in charge of the Karuma Conservation Area, were futile at press time as he did not answer our repeated phone calls.
