Minister Alum Says Oil Sector Key to Uganda’s Economic Growth After Kikuube Visit

The Minister of State for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President today visited the oil project in Kikuube District to assess the progress of implementation and establish the current status of the project.

This assessment forms part of the Government’s continued monitoring of strategic national projects to ensure they are executed according to plan.

During the visit, Hon. Santa Sandra Alum Ogwang, accompanied by her team, inspected ongoing activities at the Kingfisher project site and received updates on the progress achieved so far.

The exercise provided an opportunity to highlight achievements, identify challenges, and point out areas requiring urgent attention to guarantee smooth implementation of the oil development programme.

The Minister’s visit underscores the Government’s commitment to closely monitor the execution of the oil project and ensure that progress remains aligned with national development objectives.

Officials noted that the assessment will give the Government a clearer picture of the project’s current status and guide further interventions where necessary.

Uganda’s oil and gas sector is expected to play a pivotal role in the country’s economic growth through increased investment, employment creation, infrastructure development, and participation of Ugandan businesses in the petroleum value chain.

Today’s assessment therefore represents part of the Government’s broader effort to ensure that Uganda’s strategic oil investments advance effectively and contribute to sustainable economic transformation.
