Over 50 UPC supporters in Oyam North crossed to NRM.

Over 50 members from opposition Uganda People’s Congress party have crossed to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in Oyam district.
This becomes the second group of opposition supporters’ crossing to the NRM in Oyam after many crossed earlier last week.
Jaspher Onena, the Oyam District NRM Party chairman revealed that the NRM party Secretariat was working to have party cards ready soonest for the new converts.
He said all the details of those who had crossed to NRM had been captured and they will be expected to give their votes to NRM Candidates in the forthcoming by-election.
The crossing took place on Saturday in Alao Parish the rally of SAMELL Junior Okello.
Mary Ocen Tom, said she had stayed in the party for a long time and yet top leaders didn’t care about their existence.
Another woman said she no sleep in the house because of NRM government.
The chairperson of the UPC party in Oyam Ton Council Denis Anyeki however says those claiming that they had crossed to other parties should present their party card.

The Electoral Commission (EC) nominated four candidates to be in the race out of the nine aspirants that had earlier picked nomination forms.
Those nominated include; Dr Eunice Apio Otuko of Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), Samuel Engola Okello Junior of National Resistance Movement (NRM), Freddy Newton Okello of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), and Daniel Okello of National Unity Platform (NUP).
The nominees are now fighting for about 50,000 voters living in the constituency with a population of 160,624 people.
