Patrick Ogwang Obura hailed in Oyam South

The Deputy Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement, Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja Nsereko, has called on the people of Oyam South Constituency to give their full support to Hon. Patrick Ogwang Obura during his five-year term in Parliament.

Speaking at Ndere Cultural Center in Tinda, Kampala City, after the swearing-in ceremony of Hon. Ogwang Obura, Namayanja described him as a leader who works with everyone. She congratulated the people of Oyam South for electing him, emphasizing that he is now a community leader who should be supported in uniting the constituency for better development. Namayanja pledged to coordinate closely with Ogwang Obura to ensure that development reaches Oyam South and the district at large.

Hon. Patrick Ogwang Obura, speaking to reporters after the event, called for unity among leaders of Oyam District, stressing that development can only be achieved when leaders and voters move together. He likened leadership to a child learning to walk, urging patience and cooperation in sectors such as road construction across sub-counties and town councils.

Woman Member of Parliament for Oyam District, Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang, thanked the people of Oyam South for electing Hon. Ogwang Obura and also expressed gratitude for her own re-election. She promised to work closely with him to deliver better services to the district.

Hon. Tonny Eron, MP for Kwania County, praised Ogwang Obura as a man with a clean heart who helps people without discrimination, urging him to serve diligently.

NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, Calvin Echodu, commended the electorate of Oyam South for their choice, recalling how Ogwang once helped him during his campaign when he faced difficulties crossing a river in Oyam District.

Dr. Kenneth Omona, State Minister for Northern Uganda, pledged to work hand in hand with Hon. Ogwang Obura to bring government programs such as the Restocking Program to Oyam. He concluded by thanking the people of Oyam South for changing their mindset after over twenty years of electing only one side, saying it was a great step forward to choose Ogwang Obura.

Benedict Agwa of Myene Sub County described the swearing-in of Patrick Ogwang Obura as a day of jubilation for the people of Oyam South, saying they have finally received the good leader they have been waiting for. He called on the people to unite under Obura’s manifesto and vision for the next five years.

Hellen Akao of Agilurude Parish, Loro Sub County, expressed her excitement about the swearing-in, urging Obura to address pressing issues in the constituency such as the poor road network, low standards of education, healthcare challenges, and rising commodity prices, which remain at the heart of the electorate’s concerns.
