This was revealed during a security meeting held recently in Otwe “A” village in Ogwangapur parish Acaba Sub County in Oyam District.

According to these locals there is serious insecurity in over 10 villages in Obangangeo and Ogwangapur parishes in Acaba Sub County where cases of rape, robbery, waylaying people on the road, drunkardness, theft and poisioning of peope is on the rise.

Moses Awudu, one of the locals who lives in Obanageo parish, urges leadership of Acaba Sub County and security fraternity in Oyam District not to take this issue of insecurity for granted because the rate of criminality in Obangangeo and Ogwangapur parishes has become so bad.

Nickson Odongo Olem the LC1 chairperson of Apingmoo Village in Obangangeo parish believes that these youths who are engaged in criminal activities can still change if given a room to reform.

David Odongo Owino, the Community Liaisons Officer of Oyam District confirmed this matter, however he cautioned women against unnecessary movement at night which may put them at high risk of rape and sexual violence.
