One hundred and thirteen candidates at Amwa Comprehensive Secondary School in Oyam District are ready to sit the 2026 Uganda Certificate of Education examinations.
Candidates across the country will be briefed on Thursday, October 8, before the written examinations begin on Monday, October 12.
According to the Uganda National Examinations Board timetable, the first paper will be Mathematics Paper One. This will be followed by Chemistry Paper Two and Theory in the afternoon.
UNEB Executive Director Daniel Odongo says 503,214 candidates have registered for this year’s UCE examinations.
At Amwa Comprehensive Secondary School in Myene Sub-county, the candidates comprise 63 boys and 50 girls.
The number has increased from 100 candidates who registered at the school last year.
The candidates were dedicated to God on Saturday during a ceremony presided over by Reverend Deacon Stephen Ocen of Minakulu Catholic Parish under the Lira Catholic Diocese.
The school’s Director of Studies, Ronald Moro, says the candidates are adequately prepared for the examinations.
He says the school has subjected them to several assessments and seminars to prepare them for success.
The school’s head teacher, Stephen Kibwota, urged the candidates to maintain discipline during and after the examinations.

Guest speakers Tommy Odongo, a catechist at Alworo-Pii PAG Church in Myene Sub-county, and Mary Justine Opio, a parent, urged the candidates to respect their teachers and put God first.
Some of the candidates who spoke to our reporter said they were adequately prepared for the examinations.
