The Oyam District Speaker has officially flagged off the district’s scout team for the forthcoming National Championship competition at Kaazi National Scout Camping and Training Ground in Wakiso District. The event runs from August 21st to August 27th, 2026.

The team comprises representatives from several schools including Abok Seed Secondary School in Abok Sub County, Anyomolyec Primary School in Otwal Sub County, Loro Secondary School in Loro Town Council, and Barmwony Primary School in Loro Sub County. These institutions have combined to form a united team representing Oyam District.

He urged them to embrace unity and teamwork, stressing that they carry the hopes of Oyam District. He pledged his support and encouraged the scouts to return with a trophy, noting that sports and talent development are vital for nurturing future leaders.

In his remarks, Benson Ongom, the Inspector of Oyam, congratulated the students and highlighted the outstanding performance of Abok Seed Secondary School, which was crowned district champion. He revealed that the school’s scout team has already been awarded half bursaries, with the promise of full bursaries up to A-level if they excel at the national competition. He called upon students to actively participate in school activities that build talent, such as scouting.

Akite Polly, a student from Abok Secondary School and resident of Agoba B Village in Iceme Sub County, expressed confidence that the team is well-prepared to bring home a trophy for Oyam District.

Similarly, Emmanuel Omara, a pupil from Anyomolyec Primary School, declared that the team is ready to secure multiple trophies, attributing their readiness to the intensive training they have undergone.
