Hon. Chris Ongom, the LC5 Councillor for Acaba Sub county, has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the area through practical development initiatives during his five-year term.

Speaking at Rainbow Hotel in Oyam Town Council, Ongom emphasised that his top priority will be extending electricity connections to trading centres and key institutions such as health facilities, schools and churches. He also pledged to oversee the construction of Oporowie Comprehensive Seed School, noting that the project already has secured land and a title, making it ready for development.

On agriculture, Ongom promised to support cattle restocking programmes, ensuring transparency and fairness without cases of extortion.

Highlighting his achievements in road infrastructure during his previous term, Ongom pointed to district roads such as Corner Acaba to Obot Primary School, Atip Kampala to Obangangeo, and Upper Centre to Loro under the oilseed programme. He further committed to working closely with the LC3 Chairperson of Acaba to secure district graders and fuel support from the District Woman Member of Parliament to improve sub-county roads.

Concluding his remarks, Ongom stressed that his mission is to serve the people of Acaba with unity and fairness. He called on fellow leaders to cooperate with the District Chairperson and executive team to deliver development without discrimination, for the betterment of Oyam District.

Residents such as Denish Olila, popularly known as Wot Agwoko from Wicoo Village in Dog Apio Parish, praised Ongom’s leadership style. Olila described him as a leader who works with all political parties and urged other councillors in Oyam District to emulate his spirit of development and cooperation.
