Museveni Warns Leaders Against Corruption and Complacency

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni issued a stern warning against complacency, parasitism, and corruption in public service during the State of the Nation Address delivered to Parliament at Kololo Independence Grounds.

He made a clear declaration that there must be no more sleep, no more corruption, and no more diversion. He directed all leaders at every level to adjust immediately and focus on the progressive implementation of government socioeconomic transformation programs.

The President emphasized that the ultimate goal is to uplift the welfare of citizens through wealth creation and ensure that no one is left behind.

On other development President Museveni directed the new Minister of Works and Transport to ensure that the national road infrastructure does not deteriorate further, emphasizing the importance of periodic and routine maintenance of all national roads.He highlighted the border-to-border road network established by the NRM government as a key economic enabler, complementing the prevailing peace and stability across the country.

Speaker of Parliament Jacob Marksons Oboth Oboth reminded Members of Parliament of the President’s constitutional obligation to deliver the State of the Nation Address. He rallied MPs to ensure cohesion, hard work, and prioritization of their electorate as they undertake their mandate in line with the President’s guidance.

He further affirmed Parliament’s commitment to aligning its undertakings toward achieving the tenfold economic growth target, and urged MPs to observe health precautions against the Ebola threat.
