Oyam Town Council: Teduka Cell Aspirant Withdraws, Leaves Sam Owili Unopposed

There is unity in Teduka Cell, Eastern Ward, Oyam Town Council, after an aspirant voluntarily stepped down to allow the incumbent to continue unopposed.

A peaceful meeting convened today by Rev. Canon Robert Edinga, Archdeacon of Oyam Urban Archdeaconry, brought together key stakeholders in the ongoing LC1 elections for Teduka Cell. The meeting was held at the Archdeacon’s office and was attended by NRM Chairperson for Oyam Town Council, Bonny Amoki, incumbent LC1 Chairperson and NRM flag bearer Sam Owili, Imat Joan Oyuro, and independent aspirant Emmanuel Otim, popularly known as Note Boy.

Following cordial and constructive discussions, an agreement was reached in the spirit of reconciliation. Emmanuel Otim voluntarily agreed to withdraw his candidature and step down in favor of Sam Owili, the incumbent LC1 Chairperson.

In his remarks, Rev. Canon Robert Edinga commended both men for placing the interests of the community above personal ambition. He said their decision sets a strong example of responsible leadership and helps strengthen unity within Teduka Cell.

The Archdeacon further urged residents to remain peaceful, respectful, and united as the community continues to work together for development and wellbeing.

He concluded by applauding the aspirants for demonstrating political maturity, mutual respect, and a firm commitment to peace.

Speaking to our reporter after the reconciliation meeting, Sam Owili, the NRM flag bearer, expressed appreciation to Rev. Canon Captain Robert Edinga for mediating the process. He also thanked Emmanuel Otim, commonly known as Note Boy, for stepping down in his favor, and promised to include him in his cabinet.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Otim, in his remarks to our reporter, called upon his supporters to rally behind Owili’s leadership, noting that Owili now stands unopposed. He explained that his decision to withdraw from the race was influenced by the mediation of Rev. Canon Edinga, who helped settle the matter peacefully.
