Oyam South MP Demands Fuel to Revive Stalled Road Works

Oyam South Member of Parliament, Hon. Patrick Ogwang Obura, has issued a strong appeal to Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, urging her to engage the Ministry of Works to ensure immediate provision of fuel for stalled road construction projects in Oyam District.

Hon. Ogwang emphasized that the Minakulu–Zambia–Kamdini road project, among others, has ground to a halt due to lack of fuel, leaving works incomplete and residents struggling with impassable roads.

Speaking on Thursday, 27th August 2026, during Prime Minister’s Time in Parliament, Hon. Ogwang expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts but noted that progress remains inadequate.

He reminded the Prime Minister that in July he raised concerns about central government roads in Oyam South, including Kamdini–Zambia–Minakulu, Minakulu–Acaba, and Loro roads. Although the Ministry of Works responded, their intervention was limited to bush clearing, which has not improved road accessibility.

He further stressed that Oyam District, one of the largest in Uganda, has over 600 kilometres of roads, with 220 kilometres under central government jurisdiction. He lamented that these roads are now in a dire state, making transport difficult for residents, farmers, and traders.

Concluding his remarks, Hon. Ogwang appealed to the Prime Minister to engage the senior Minister of Works so that fuel can be supplied and construction resumed, ensuring completion of the central government road projects that are vital for the district’s development.
