In a press briefing at Rainbow Hotel on June 9, 2025, Christ Ongom, the UPC Regional Vice Chairman for Lango, announced the party’s preparations for upcoming elections.
According to Ongom, the preparations will officially begin on June 12, 2025, with meetings at parish headquarters, where elections for branch structures will take place.
These elections will subsequently lead to the selection of the Party President, with aspirants including Jimmy James Michael Akena Obote and Denis Adim Enap.
Ongom urged all UPC chairpersons in Lango to attend the party meetings to gain insights from the Party Electoral Commission.
Officials from the UPC headquarters in Kampala will be present in Lira City to distribute election materials and provide guidance ahead of the scheduled elections on June 12, 2025.
Ongom also cautioned individuals with ill intentions against attempting to disrupt the elections, emphasizing the importance of a free and fair electoral process.
According to the UPC election roadmap: – Village structure elections will take place from June 12 to June 18, 2025. – Parish-level elections will commence on June 22, 2025. – Sub-county elections will officially begin on June 24, 2025. – Constituency elections will be held on June 26, 2025.
Ongom reiterated the party’s commitment to a transparent and orderly electoral process.
