Hon. Peter Kawuki, the Mpigi District Chairperson, alongside the District Commercial Officer, Mr. Ronald Kazibwe, has reassured traders at Mpigi Central Market that they will soon be relocated to the nearly completed temporary market structures.

The relocation will pave the way for the commencement of construction of a modern multi-billion-shilling market expected to boost trade and improve business opportunities in the district.

The existing market was originally built to accommodate 100 traders. However, by the time the district closed it for redevelopment, the number of traders had grown to about 600.

Upon completion, the new market is expected to accommodate up to 900 traders.

The leaders made the assurance today during a meeting with traders and other stakeholders at the temporary market site.
