Founded by the Muslim Community in Karusandara sub-county, the school has only seven pupils with 11 teachers paid for by the government.

There are only three pupils in P1, while P2 and P3 have two learners each. The other classes don’t have any leaner.

According to information obtained from local authorities, there has been bickering between the administration and the Muslim community with the latter demanding a Muslim-led administration.

Mr. George Mayinja, the Kasese District Education Officer, says that the government cannot continue facilitating the school without learners.

He says that his attempts to engage Muslim leaders, the district council, and other stakeholders have not yielded any fruits.

Twaha Kalifan Juma, the School Management Committee Chairperson faults the education department for the current situation, saying they are doing all it takes to attract more learners.

Earlier, Mayinja says his department will next week present a report to the Chief Administrative Officer on how they will redistribute the teachers and if no resolution is reached by next year, they will write to the ministry seeking approval to permanently close the school.
