Hippopotamus has chopped off man’s leg at Kayanja fish landing site

Fisherman’s leg has been chopped off by a hippopotamus at Kayanja fish landing site on Lake Edward in Kasese District.

Residents of Kayanja fish landing site in Nyakiyumbu Sub County, Kasese district are stuck with a man whose leg was reportedly chopped by a hippopotamus.

There has been no official comment yet from police, but Mr. Amon Kibikyabu, a local resident in the area, confirmed the information and identified the injured victim as Kasereka who hails from Kisinga Sub County.

He said Kasereka was attacked by the hippopotamus as he went fishing on the lake shores.

Mr. Kyibikyabu said efforts to have the victim rushed to Kagando hospital were limited by the poor road network connecting Katholhu-Kayanja fish landing site.
