Pig innards’ feed is on high in Kasese

Local leaders in Kasese are worried about the increased importation of uninspected animals in the district.

Mr. Charles Thembo Kahitisan, the local council three chairperson for Nyakabingo sub-county in Kasese district is worried about the increased ferrying of pigs into the district, a trade he said risks both animals and people to contract diseases.

Speaking to our reporter today in Kasese town, Mr. Kahitisan the sub-county boss revealed that locals in the area have fully engaged in trading of pig innards from the neighboring districts spotting Kasindi trading center as the lead where he said the vice is likely to cause zoonotic diseases since he suspects organs not to be suitable for human consumption.

He also indicated that the vice is likely to increase animal diseases if they might be importing contaminated organs which in turn may affect livestock in the area.
