Rwenzuru King and guard’s bail application to be brought on notice

The King and royal guards, who have spent close to six years in prison, face charges ranging from terrorism, treason, murder to attempted murder.

Judgment by the International Crimes Division of the High court about the bail application for the Rwenzururu King and his Co-accused. will be on notice, the Kingdom Attorney, Mr. Alfred Makasi has said.

Today was the bail application hearing for the Rwenzururu King, His Majesty Charles Wesley Mumbere and his 49 co-accused suspects at Jinja High court.

The suspects comprising 44 men and five women face 41 charges including murder, terrorism, treason, malicious damage to property, attempted murder, and aggravated robbery among others allegedly committed in 2016 following the raid at the Rwenzururu Kingdom palace in Kasese District by security.

Counsel Makasi says the Judge had asked the defense and prosecution sides to hand in by this Thursday their written submissions out of which the judge will base her ruling.

He calls for calm among the Rwenzururu subjects, praying that court rules in the favor of the King.

The Kingdom Premier, Rt. Hon. Joseph Muranga Kule was hopeful that looking that the submission by their defense lawyers, court hears their prayer.
