One arrested, two on run over cattle theft in Kasese

Kasese Divisional Police are holding one person and two others on run for allegedly engaging in cattle theft.

Rwenzori East Region Police Spokesperson ASP Nelson Tumushiime confirmed the information without divulging details.

However, the Kasese District senior Veterinary officer Dr.Yusuf Kibaya identified the suspects as Mr.Akora while those on run include, Mr.Munyere a self-appointed operation commander at Kasese Municipal abattoir and Mr.Bizimungu.

Dr. Kibaya said the suspects are reported to have stolen eleven cows from Kiruhura district and transported them to Kasese abattoir.

Dr.Kibaya said footages retrieved from closed circuit television-CCTV cameras along the highway showed cows being transported to Kasese District.

Mr. William Thembo, an eye witness said the cattle were offloaded at the abattoir at around 11.00am last week Tuesday.
