75% of households in Nyakiyumbu, Kasese have substandard pit-latrines

About 75% out of more than 7,000 households in Nyakiyumbu Sub-County in Kasese District have pit-latrines bellow the required standards, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.

Mr. Joseph Makwano, the Health in charge for Musyenene Health Centre three told a budget conference held at the sub-County headquarters that the situation in the area requires the intervention of the local leaders and health technical people to enforce laws that would improve pit-latrines coverage, hygiene and sanitation for the good of the people.

Mr. Mukwano who called for expedited plans to provide means of transport to health in charges, asks government to collaborate with her development partners to increase water coverage from 53% to minimize water borne diseases. Mr. Makwano speaking……..
