Police at Oyam Central Police Station are holding Okodi Morish, a notorious gang member involved in stealing motorbikes. According to reports, Okodi, a resident of Okarowok in Aber Jinary, stormed Aber parish and stole a motorbike (UFF 159 F CT, blue model) on 18th March at around 2 am. The motorbike belonged to Rev. Fr. Moses Owani, the parish priest of Aber Catholic Parish.
Speaking to our reporter, Rev. Fr. Owani said that in the morning, they discovered the motorbike was missing, prompting them to pray and make efforts to locate it. The motorbike failed to start, and later, the community of Atipe in Acabe sub county arrested Okodi. Initially, they intended to kill him upon realising he had stolen from the parish priest, but they ultimately did not carry out the act.
He appealed to the Christian community to stand firm, keep their property secure, and urged thieves to repent from their actions.
Rev. Fr. Owani noted that this is the third time thieves have broken into the parish to steal property. He suspects the thieves may be youths and urged them to use the available rain for productive purposes rather than engaging in theft, warning that such actions could bring curses upon them.
Terence Omonya, the LC III chairman of Kamdini sub county, Oyam district, condemned the thieves for stealing the motorbike from the parish premises.
Speaking to our reporter, Job Mutegeki, the DPC of Oyam district, confirmed this development and called upon youths to desist from such criminal activities.
The case against Okodi is registered at Oyam Central Police Station under SDREF 03/19/03/2025.
