NEC FC secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Express FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Thursday 2025, during matchday 21 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Paul Mucureezi, Muzamiru Mutyaba, and Allan Mugalu were on the scoresheet for NEC, while Conard Ssenjogera netted a consolation goal for Express.
This win allowed NEC to close the gap on league leaders Vipers SC, bringing them within two points of the top spot. NEC now has 47 points, just two behind Vipers, who have a game in hand.
Express FC, on the other hand, continued to struggle for form, suffering back-to-back defeats and managing just one win in their last five league matches. They remain in seventh place with 28 points and will need to regroup quickly to improve their position in the league.
This result marks a significant turnaround from their previous encounter earlier in the season when Express handed NEC their first defeat with a 2-1 win at the Hamz Stadium (Nakivubo).
As the league progresses, NEC’s consistent performances keep them firmly in title contention, while Express must address their poor form to climb the standings.
